On 30 June 2026, the annual graduation exhibition of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) grandly kicked off. As one of the institute’s major annual creative events, the exhibition showcases outstanding final-year projects across design disciplines, demonstrating students’ innovative thinking and professional capabilities. Headlining the event, the “Shape” New Generation Fashion Show presented by the Image Design Department made a stunning debut. Watched by industry professionals, faculty members, students and parents, the show concluded its presentation successfully.
This fashion show features original creations by final-year students from HKDI’s two Higher Diploma programmes, Fashion and Image Design and Performing Arts Styling Design. Centered on wearable art, the production breaks the boundaries of conventional fashion design. Integrating innovative makeup, artistic hairstyling and holistic styling techniques, the works deliver strong visual impact while conveying profound design concepts. They fully demonstrate the new generation designers’ acute insight into contemporary fashion trends, unique aesthetic perspectives, and solid practical professionalism.
The exhibition featured a rich diversity of styles and creative works. Drawing on contemporary aesthetics, artistic trends and life inspirations, students produced a wide range of personalised and sophisticated styling creations. Featuring both avant‑garde fashion expressions and heartfelt artistic interpretations, the showcase fully demonstrated the teaching excellence and innovative vitality of HKDI’s Image Design programme. On stage, elaborate designs appeared in succession. With fluid styling concepts and exquisite makeup and hairstyling, the presentation delivered an immersive visual fashion feast for the audience.
The grand award ceremony took place towards the end of the showcase. A number of professional awards were presented to outstanding graduate works and talented students in recognition of their exceptional performance in design creation, styling presentation and creative innovation. Each honour acknowledges the students’ years of dedication and diligent exploration in the design field, empowers young designers on their creative journey, and inspires them to continue exploring and innovating boldly within the fashion and image design industry.
The successful conclusion of the “Shape” New Generation Fashion Show not only comprehensively presents the learning achievements of graduating students from the HKDI Image Design Department, but also serves as a vivid illustration of the Institute’s dedication to creative design education and nurturing emerging industry talents. Moving forward, Hong Kong Design Institute will continue to uphold innovative teaching philosophies.
