Beauty industry professionals gathered to explore new chapters in talent development.To build a platform for in-depth exchanges between Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area in vocational education, focus on image design and beauty industry vocational education development, and explore pathways for talent cultivation and industry collaboration.On March 9 and 10, a delegation composed of industry authorities and academic experts visited Guangzhou and Zhaoqing for beauty industry vocational education exchanges, touring three vocational colleges and inaugurating a new chapter in Hong Kong-Guangdong beauty industry vocational education cooperation.

This study tour focuses on three core objectives:Firstly, to facilitate teaching experience and academic exchanges on Image Design and Hairdressing between Hong Kong and Guangdong institutions;Secondly, to explore ways to precisely align vocational education curricula with industry demands, so as to optimize talent development programs;Thirdly, to establish a long-term communication mechanism for vocational education in the Greater Bay Area and expand new opportunities for school-enterprise and inter-school cooperation.

Hong Kong Design Institute, HKDI

The Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) is affiliated with the Vocational Training Council (VTC) of Hong Kong and is a top creative design institution in Hong Kong. With "Thinking and Practicing" as its core, the institute nurtures design talents with both creativity and professional capabilities, boasting advanced campus facilities and abundant industry resources. Its flagship program, Fashion and Image Design, keeps pace with the frontiers of the film and television, fashion, and beauty industries, covering the entire skill chain of hairstyling, makeup, and styling. Taught by senior industry instructors, the program emphasizes practical training and strong creativity, cultivating beauty industry elites with an international perspective.

I. On-Site Investigation and Research on the Actual Situation of Beauty Industry Vocational Education in the Greater Bay Area

Over the course of two days, the delegation successively visited the Department of Image Design, Makeup and Hairdressing of Guangdong Lingnan Modern Technician College, the School of Art and Design of Guangzhou Vocational and Technical University, and Guangdong Technology and Business University. The delegation went deep into the beauty training bases and teaching venues of each school, conducted on-site inspections of the facility equipment and practical teaching models, communicated face-to-face with school leaders, teachers and students, and comprehensively understood the school-running characteristics, training base construction and the achievements in the implementation of industry-education integration of beauty industry vocational education in the Greater Bay Area.

On March 9, the first stop took the delegation to Guangdong Lingnan Modern Technician College. There, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of the college's beauty industry incubation training base, specifically its curriculum design, entrepreneurship incubation support, and the coordination of university-enterprise resources. The delegation highly recognized the school's dual-track training model of "On-campus Maker Workshop + Enterprise Practical Collaboration".

Later, the delegation visited the School of Art and Design, Guangzhou Vocational and Technical University. They toured the training rooms and the exhibition area of university-enterprise cooperation achievements. Based on the core requirements of industry positions, they put forward targeted suggestions for optimizing the talent training programs of beauty-related majors at the university.

On March 10, the delegation visited Guangdong Technology and Business University. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on topics including aligning curricula with cutting-edge industry trends and nurturing students’ creative thinking, laying a solid foundation for the mutual exchange of teaching experience.

II. In-Depth Interaction to Jointly Discuss New Directions for Beauty Industry Vocational Education and Talent Development

The delegation held in-depth face-to-face discussions with teachers and students, creating a warm and lively atmosphere. Ms. Linda Yip and Mr. Andy Yip, drawing on their extensive industry experience, emphasized the importance of solid professional skills and practical innovation abilities. They encouraged everyone to actively participate in industry practices and competitions to accumulate hands-on experience.

Mr. Xu Jiawen and Mr. Dong Guoqiang also shared the educational experience of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). They encouraged students to keep an eye on the latest trends in the beauty industry both at home and abroad, break through geographical limitations, and actively participate in beauty industry exchange activities in the Greater Bay Area, so as to achieve dual improvements in professional skills and international vision.

The delegation also held in-depth discussions with professional teachers from each school on core issues such as curriculum system construction, the implementation of industry-education integration, and collaborative talent training models. The institutions expressed great gains, and both sides hoped to take this exchange as an opportunity to establish a long-term communication mechanism and deepen multi-faceted cooperation in the field of Hong Kong-Guangdong beauty industry vocational education.

III. Work Together to Create a New Blueprint for Beauty Industry Talent Cultivation in the Greater Bay Area

The Hong Kong-Guangdong beauty industry vocational education inspection and exchange is an in-depth dialogue between the two regions' beauty education, as well as a specific practice for the high-quality development of vocational education in the Greater Bay Area. The delegation conducted on-site visits and in-depth exchanges, built cooperation bridges with three colleges and universities, promoted inter-school linkage, resource sharing and talent co-cultivation, and expanded new spaces for school-enterprise collaboration and industry cooperation.

In the future, we will continue to play the role of a bridge and link, build a regular exchange platform, promote in-depth integration of vocational education and resource interconnection between the two regions, work together with enterprises and schools to explore the training model for beauty industry talents in the Greater Bay Area, cultivate beauty industry talents with craftsmanship, innovation and an international perspective, and inject new vitality into the development of the beauty industry in the Greater Bay Area.
